Print was a great improvement of the older 
alphabetic writing. Print is a technology not only of 
moveable types and of the first mechanization of a 
handicraft. It had all the startling implications that 
automation now has for us with regard to the 
reorganizing of work. Print reorganized the work 
pattern by specialism. Instead of a man knowing all 
aspects of his craft, he learned one operation only,
